Below is a list of waders recorded at Middleton Lakes. Those marked with a * were only recorded before the RSPB started managing the site. Additionally a Kentish Plover was seen in the 1970s on a now filled in pit between Kingsbury Water Park and the reserve.

19th April - Sightings

Garganey - Fisher's Mill and Wheatear - Wishaw (Gareth Robinson)

RSPB - No sign of Black-Winged Stilts today. They appear to have relocated to Cheshire. But 3 Garganey (2m,f) Fisher's Mill. Garganey(m) Jubilee Wetlands. Garganey(m) North Pit. Also 3 Avocet, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, 12 Ringed Plover, 2 Wheatear, 3 Grasshopper Warbler, 2 Arctic Tern through (A Archer et al) Whinchat(m) between 2 screens on electric fence (J Allen)
Kingsbury South - 3+ Yellow Wagtail Mill Meadow. 50+ House Martin, 2 Swift, 7 Common Tern Bodymoor Heath Water (TP)
Kingsbury - 9 Common Tern Cliff Pool. Redstart(f), 2 Grasshopper Warbler Richard's Meadow (A Archer et al)
Shustoke - 4 Swift (M Palmer)
Ladywalk - 7 Little Egret (per P Sofley)
Wishaw - 3 Wheatear Blindpit Lane (G Robinson)

18th April - Sightings

Black-Winged Stilt - Mark Priest (upper) and Dave Hutton

RSPB - **2 BLACK-WINGED STILT ** Jubilee Wetlands mid evening at least. They are a pair and were first on Fisher's Mill c9.25am but then moved to Jubilee (R Davis et al) The only previous record in the Tame was from Alvecote in 1987. The last ones in Staffs were in 1995.

Also Garganey(m) still Fisher's Mill. 3 Avocet, 2 Green Sandpiper Jubilee Wetlands. 2 Goosander North Pit. 4 Grasshopper Warbler, 4+ Reed Warbler around reserve (Many Obs) Red Kite over (K Thorpe, F Mosey) Marsh Harrier(fem) over to North Late Afternoon (M Yapp)

Alvecote - Arctic Tern Mill Pool (A Archer)
Whitacre Heath - Hobby over village (K wimbush)
Coton - Garden Warbler near where hide used to be (D Hutton)

17th April - Sightings

RSPB - Garganey(m) still North Pit (per Staffs Birding) A pair have been seen recently (per RSPB) Arctic Tern North Pit (G Williams) In evening Garganey(m) Fisher's Mill. Also 2 Avocet, 3 Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Black-Tailed Godwit around reserve (J Allen, S Pick et al)
Wishaw - Whinchat Hempit Lane by farm (D Baker)

16th April - Sightings

RSPB - Green Sandpiper Southern Meadow. 3 Dunlin, 15 Ringed Plover, Whitethroat Jubilee Wetlands (TP) Also 2 Avocet (G Williams)
Wishaw - 2 Wheatear Blindpit Lane (D Baker)
Ladywalk - Garden Warbler in car park area (S Cawthray)

15th April - Sightings

RSPB - Whimbrel Jubilee Wetlands till mid-evening at least. Also Yellow Wagtail, White Wagtail (K Thorpe et al) Curlew early evening. Also Grasshopper Warbler, 2 Sedge Warbler (D Hutton)
Lea Marston - 2 Green Sandpiper from Railway Bridge. Common Sandpiper on river (M Pollock)
Coton - possible acredula Willow Warbler near brick building by road bridge. Also 2 Whitethroat (D Hutton)
